Highly-rated Lille forward Nicolas Pepe is a transfer target for Everton this summer after being linked with their Merseyside rivals Liverpool in recent months.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a sensational campaign in Ligue 1, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists as Lille finished second in the table behind runaway champions PSG.

It was reported last week that Pepe, who is currently at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt with the Ivory Coast, has held discussions with Liverpool over a move to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool have denied that is the case with Jurgen Klopp happy with his Champions League winning squad, however, Pepe could still make the move to Merseyside to join Everton instead.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Everton are exploring the possibility of signing Pepe but they will have to smash their transfer record in order to do so with Lille valuing him at £58.5m.

Marco Silva is keen to add a left-footed forward who can play on the right wing to his squad this summer and Everton have also been heavily linked with Malcom and David Neres.

Malcom is free to leave Barcelona this summer for a fee in the region of £31m to create room for Antoine Griezmann or Neymar but Everton could face competition for him from Arsenal.

Pepe has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years after starting his career in France’s fifth-tier with Poitiers before playing for Orleans in the third division and then Angers in Ligue 1.

Only PSG’s Kylian Mbappe with 33 goals scored more times in Ligue 1 last season than Pepe, despite the Ivorian playing in a right-wing position for Lille.
