Global tournament organizer ESL has signed a deal that makes the U.S. Air Force an official partner of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) North America 2020 event series, ESL Pro League Season 11, as well as AnyKey, an advocacy group founded by ESL and Intel.

The deal includes onsite activations, content integrated into tournament broadcasts, and the Air Force will sponsor timeouts during matches in both IEM North America and ESL Pro League events, which will be presented as the “Air Force Tactical Timeout.”

The U.S. Air Force will also collaborate with AnyKey to recognize gaming community members for outstanding work in diversity and inclusion, providing a grant to selected individuals. The amount of the grant was not disclosed.

The United States military has increased its esports sponsorship portfolio substantially in recent months. In addition to ESL, the Air Force and U.S. Army both sponsor the Call of Duty League, while the U.S. Navy recently entered into a joint partnership with DreamHack and ESL North America.
