Jacob (played by Jacob Gallagher) and his step-father David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) have been slowly rebuilding their relationship on Emmerdale in the past few months as the shop owner tried to dismantle the manipulation his ex-girlfriend Maya (Louisa Clein) had wired into the teenager’s mind. Wanting to have a peaceful family Christmas, the ITV soap has confirmed a mysterious package will be left on their doorstep with no trace of the mother in sight. Knowing his illicit lover has been freed from prison and desperately wanting to reconnect with her now a baby is in the picture, could the youngster flee the village with the tot?
It’s not yet been confirmed if Maya is indeed the mother of the baby, but in light of her being released from behind bars, the ex-jailbird was seen carrying quite the bump.
With the child being left outside Jacob and David’s home, fans will have to wait and see if they put the pieces of the puzzle together and discover their ex-lover could have been pregnant when she left the village.
Having both slept with the school teacher during her stint in the Dales, the pair will be left questioning if one of them, if either, are the father of the mysterious baby.
As recently as a few weeks ago, the teenager tried to make contact with his former teacher and still believing he is in love with her, he could take drastic action to ensure his step-father doesn’t come between them again.

Discussing more about the plot, Executive Producer Jane Hudson told press, including Express.co.uk, what’s in store for the possible fathers.
“David and Jacob have gone through such a journey and we’ve really got to a point where it felt like Jacob was starting to move on and he was starting to get his life back on track.
“They’re having a nice Christmas and it’s all going well and then of course you open the door and there’s a baby on your doorstep.
“It’s just not what you’re expecting. It’s going to have a massive effect for them and when they find out who the father is, if it’s Maya’s baby, [for] both of them it’s going to have a massive effect,” she explained.
Executive Producer Kate Brooks also told Inside Soap earlier this year a permanent comeback wasn’t on the agenda in the near future.
“Maya was so multilayered that it feels as though we only just scratched the surface with her. Louisa is a tremendous actress, but there are no plans as yet.”
Therefore, if Jacob did want to reunite with her, he would have to be the one to leave the village.
However, if he stays around, will the baby drive an even bigger wedge between him and David given their divide in recent months?
Speaking last month to Digital Spy about the aftermath of Maya’s release from jail, David star Matthew, 39, said: “David has never blamed Jacob for anything, he’s blamed Maya for everything.
“It was just David trying to get through to Jacob that he’d been abused by Maya and it wasn’t love.
“Jacob and Maya are not going to run away to a desert island together once Maya is out of prison, which was always Jacob’s dream.”
However, could the arrival of a secret baby now throw a spanner in the works?
