Emma Bunton has welcomed a new “member of the family” with a Barbie-inspired name that has melted the hearts of her fans. The Spice Girl was all smiles in a snap of herself and her adorable new pup who is named after a big Hollywood star.
Alongside the pic of her beaming in a red top with the chocolate brown furry pet in her hand on Instagram, she wrote: “A new member of the family and we are all in love. Please welcome #margotrobbie.”
Many of the singer’s fans were quick to gush over the post, including her fellow presenter who joked: “Omg!! Love the name…it’s Margot Doggie.” (sic)
Another of her 1.4 million followers said: “Awwww congratulations, so adorable.” A third wrote: “She’s so cute, love the name,” while a fourth added: “Emma oh my God how cute is she?” (sic)
The mother-of-two has long been a dog lover and shared snaps with her various dogs over the years.
But sadly, it’s not all been cuddles and giggles. Back in 2013 she was left “devastated” after revealing her pet Labrador Phoebe was found dead.
The pooch is said to have run off Monken Hadley Common between Barnet and Cockfosters and Emma had enlisted the help of Britain’s best known pet detective Tom Watkins from Animal Search UK to help her find Phoebe.
But the dog was found dead on railway tracks after a member of the public alerted the search team.
Since then, the star has become a big advocate for pups and in 2019 she took to Twitter to share a snap of herself surrounded by little pups in an English country garden to promote National Dogs Day.
The radio presenter’s new post follows her admission that she “broke many bones” while suffering through painful yet iconic Spice Girls looks.
Each member of the group had their own signature style, with Emma always showing off her baby pink ensembles to resemble her nickname.
One of the items of clothing Emma was regularly pictured in was a pair of towering white platform boots, which she still owns today.
On a recent episode of Portrait Artist of the Year, she said: “These are the original Buffalo Boots – as you can tell, cause they’re filthy,” as she picked up the iconic shoes. “But I wore these for many years, and I have broken many bones because of these shoes. I’ve fallen over many times.”
