Emma Bunton was ‘angry’ when Geri Horner’s walked out of the Spice Girls.

In case you need a refresher for some reason, The Spice Girls were killing it worldwide when Geri – then Geri Halliwell – announced she was leaving the group in 1998.

As hearts broke globally, it turned out that the rest of the band was as shocked as the rest of us because Ginger Spice left with explaining herself… to anyone.

Her fellow bandmates Emma, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham were pretty much in the dark as much as the rest of us – which explains the huge mystery behind the exit drama.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Emma explained how much she knew when Geri left the group.

‘Geri just left. No words. No explanation. Nothing,’ she said.

In short, Emma was left utterly clueless.

We weren’t in the dark forever as Geri later admitted she left the group following a struggle with the band’s global fame along with battling an eating disorder and depression.

And it wasn’t only fans, and the Spice Girls themselves, who were left intrigued – and confused – by the shocking breaking up, as Baby Spice revealed that even their idol Madonna wanted in on the pipping hot tea.

Emma said: ‘She just wanted the gossip. There was no way we were going to say anything about Geri. None of us would ever break ranks on that – even for Madonna.’

Things later improved with the group – after a few years of distance between Geri and the women – with Geri asking Emma to be her daughter Bluebell’s godmother in 2006.

However, now lovers of the Wannabe singers can count their lucky stars as they prep for their reunion tour later this year – without Victoria, sadly –  and Emma announced some new solo music.

The woman formerly, but, let’s face it, always known as Baby Spice opened up about working on her latest music, My Happy Place, after the news was announced this week. But it was her tidbit of intel in regards to the pop group she formed in the 90s that has us salivating and wanting more, more, more.

The album is set to be out on 12 April, which features 10 tracks she’s been working on over the last two years.

The mum-of-two has teamed up with a number of impressive singers for the record, including Robbie Williams, who she duets with on a new version of the Spice Girls’ classic hit 2 Become 1.

Aside from Emma’s new tunes, Spice Girls fans also don’t have long to wait until they’ll get to see the spicy gang perform as the long-awaited tour kicks off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on 27 May before they head to Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Bristol and finally London.
