Emily Andrea sticks up for Stacey Solomon over 'stigma' of being young mum

Peter Andre’s wife Emily has revealed she battled a challenging “stigma” on becoming a young mum at the age of 24.

The NHS frontline hero, 31, had her first daughter Amelia, who she shares with the Mysterious Girl singer, in 2014.

She tied the knot with the 47-year-old reality star a year later.

Emily has opened up about her experience as a young mother after Loose Women’s Stacey Solomon told fans she felt “ashamed” as she gave birth to her eldest son Zachary at 17.

Pete’s wife wrote in her OK! magazine column : “Unfortunately, I think the stigma around being a young mum can still exist, but it’s wrong and nobody should judge you for the age you decide to have children. We need to support young mums.”

“I was 24 when I had Millie, which I still count as quite young. That was hard at times, too.

“It’s really challenging and the last thing you need is people giving you dirty looks!”

Emily admitted she had a “positive experience” compared to Stacey.

The doting mum also shares son Theo with hubby Peter, and she revealed how not too long ago “being 24 would have been old to have your first baby” but the times have “only recently changed”.

It comes after Stacey revealed she got “stares” from people while pregnant with her eldest.

She said on Loose Women: “I just remember feeling so ashamed.

“I know that sounds awful but when I was pregnant with Zach, all I felt the whole way through was shame. I looked like a baby as well. I looked about six.

“I think people just looked and were like, ‘Ugh, why is she pregnant?’ Maybe it’s a bit of a trauma I just haven’t addressed.”
