After he left the Army and returned to Memphis, she soon moved with him into Graceland.
They later married and had one daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
Though the couple divorced in 1973, they remained close friends.
Elvis is also known for his successful stint as a Hollywood heartthrob, starring in 31 movies in total.
In the late 1960s, he turned his back on the silver screen and returned to live music with his 1968 Comeback Special.
The show reinvigorated his career and kicked off his period of Las Vegas residencies.
In the last years of his life, Elvis’ health declined and he was reported to have been relying heavily on prescription drugs.
He died on August 16, 1977 of cardiac arrest, but it is wifely believed his history of drug use contributed to the cardiac incident which killed him.
