Eden Hazard set for Real Madrid move as soon as Zinedine Zidane backs Chelsea raid

Eden Hazard has been linked with a mega-money transfer to the Spanish capital for a number of years.

Chelsea’s talisman is understood to be a big fan of Real and even publicly flirted with a move to the Bernabeu last summer.

It’s been reported the forward could leave Stamford Bridge this summer due to the west Londoners’ domestic struggles.

The Belgium international, who has been the Blues’ star performer this season, is said to be high on Real’s summer wish-list.

Spanish newspaper Marca claim Los Blancos’ pursuit of Hazard is underway and all that remains for the former Lille man to join the club is for manager Zinedine Zidane to give his blessing.

“Real Madrid still has Hazard among their favourites,” the widely-respected Jose Felix Diaz wrote.

“Moreover, the operation is already underway and Roman Abramovich knows it, as he also knew about the possible sanction of FIFA.

“That’s why he signed Pusilic (his replacement) in the winter market. What is missing for the Belgian to be a Real Madrid player?

“Well the definitive Zidane ok on the arrival of the Belgian.”

The latest development in the ongoing saga comes a few days after Hazard’s former Chelsea team-mate Thibaut Courtois revealed he’d love the midfielder to join him at Real.

“I don’t know if he is going to sign for Real Madrid, nor do I know if the club want him,” the Real keeper told Onda Cero.

“For me, he is a great player, but I don’t decide those things.

“Each one decides what he does with his life.

“For me, he is one of the best in the world and as a friend, I would like him to be here.”

Hazard, 28, has scored 16 goals and picked up 11 assists for Maurizio Sarri’s side this season.

The Belgian and his Chelsea team-mates will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Wales to take on relegation-threatened Cardiff City.
