Eddie Hearn has slammed the WBC for suspending Dillian Whyte after it emerged the British heavyweight had failed a drug test.

Whyte is in the midst of a doping storm after Hearn confirmed the Bodysnatcher faced a independent panel on the day of his fight with Oscar Rivas after an ‘adverse finding’ in a UK Anti-Doping drug test.

The WBC announced on Wednesday they had suspended Whyte as their mandatory challenger while they investigate a possible doping violation.

WBC champion Deontay Wilder has hit out at Whyte and Hearn, but the Matchroom promoter insists his fighter is being branded a cheat without any evidence of wrongdoing.

‘Deontay Wilder is a proper dosser,’ Hearn told IFL TV.

‘The geezer is obsessed with me and Matchroom. All these people who are quick to jump, they don’t know the facts.

‘The don’t know the ins and outs. Everyone keeps disregarding the fact Dillian Whyte was cleared to fight.

‘The WBC, for example… quite clearly the WBC never wanted Dillian Whyte to be mandatory. Why is that? Maybe he’s not with the right people.

‘How can you suspend a fighter? On what grounds? Through an article they read on Boxing Scene? You don’t know the facts yet.

‘I don’t know the facts yet. The only facts we know are Dillian Whyte had to attend a hearing and was cleared to fight.

‘He’s not suspended by Ukad. He’s not suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control. Yet the WBC decide to suspend him?

‘On what grounds? So please, let’s wait until the whole story comes out. There’s loads and loads I want to say.

‘But [I won’t] jeopardise Dillian’s case. He’s fighting for his career right now.’

While reports have claimed Whyte tested positive for a banned substance, Hearn has denied these claims and insisted he was not even sure the heavyweight tested positive for any performance-enhancing drug.

‘What I know [is] there was an adverse finding,’ he said. ‘Is that a positive result? Is he found guilty? These [are the] questions.

‘There was obviously a problem with his drug test, but he was cleared to fight, so I don’t actually know the answer to the question.’

‘I don’t actually know the answer because Ukad will have to make a ruling,’ he continued.

‘What I’m saying is, they’ve looked into something, which is true. [From] what I know, those Dianabol reports are totally incorrect.’
