EastEnders star Lauren Crace marks 10 years since appearing in BBC soap

Lauren Crace, 32, took to social media this week to reminisce about her time on BBC soap opera EastEnders.

The English actress was fresh out of drama school when she landed the role of Ronnie Mitchell’s long-lost daughter Danielle Jones back in 2008.

Two days ago, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art graduate shared an image on Instagram with her 2,267 followers showing her dramatic exit from the show the following year.

Her post marks a decade since her final episode and her character’s death.

The photograph shows Danielle being held in the arms of her on-screen mother, played by Samantha Janus, as she passes away after she was accidentally run over by Janine Butcher.

She captioned the snap: “Eastenders was my first professional job out of drama school and today marks 10 whole years since my final episode #eastenders #danielle @bbcone @bbceastenders @royalacademyofdramaticart”.

Lauren’s final moments on EastEnders were watched by 11.5 million viewers and earned her the Best Newcomer accolade at the TV Quick and TV Choice Awards.

The actress, who went on to play Doris Millar in ITV’s Mr Selfridge and have parts in Sherlock and last year’s Vanity Fair, is now all grown up and a busy mum herself.

The Birmingham-born star, who is married to Casualty actor Michael Stevenson, 36, and mother to twin daughters Emmy and Isla and a son called Jack, currently presents the breakfast show on Free Radio.
