EastEnders fans baffled as Kat Slater suddenly exits soap without explanation

EastEnders viewers were broken-hearted during tonight’s episode, when Kat Slater said goodbye to Albert Square.

Played by Jessie Wallace, the leopard-print loving babe has been a fixture on the show since the millennium.

Tonight, Kat Slater left the show suddenly – in a scene that raised a few eyebrows.

Kat received a mystery phone call, though viewers had no idea who was on the other end of the line.

In the next scene, she said goodbye to her boyfriend Kush Kazemi in the legendary Old Vic pub, letting him know she was leaving town.

Making it clear it was a matter of urgency, she left the show – without making it clear when she would return.

Over on Twitter, fans were baffled by the sudden departure, devastated to see Kat bid farewell to Walford.

The departure comes after EastEnders was forced to axe filming, in a preventative measure in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

On March 18, show bosses said: “In light of the spread of Covid-19, filming on #EastEnders will be postponed until further notice…

“We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two. Episodes will now air on Mondays, 8pm and Tuesdays, 7.30pm.”
