Earthquake TODAY: Huge tremor predicted for May 30 – shock claim

Tremor enthusiasts are predicting a huge earthquake which could rock a civilisation to its core on May 30, thanks to a strange alignment of the solar system’s planets. One ‘earthquake mystic’ claims that tectonic plates on Earth are being “influenced” by Mercury, Mars, Saturn and the Sun. The gravitational pull from the other celestial bodies will tug on Earth’s tectonic plates, causing tension to build which will eventually be released, according to conspiracy theorists.

The supposed earthquake would be stronger than a magnitude six, which can “cause a lot of damage in very populated areas”, according to Michigan Tech.

‘New-age earthquake researcher’ Frank Hoogerbeets made the claim, writing on Ditrianum: “Critical geometry occurs as Earth and the Moon are being influenced by Mercury and Jupiter while Mercury lines up with the Sun and Saturn later on the 28th.

“Larger seismic activity may occur as a result around the 30th, typically over magnitude 6.

“The situation remains critical as Mercury lines up with Mars and the Sun on the 30th and also with Earth and Jupiter.”

Mr Hoogerbeets reached his conclusion using his Solar System Geometry Index (SSGI) which “is the computation of a dataset for a specific time-frame of values given to specific geometric positions of the planets, the Moon and the Sun”.

He said: “After three years of observations, it became clear that some planetary geometry in the Solar System clearly tends to cause a seismic increase, while other geometry does not.”

But experts have previously dismissed Mr Hoogerbeets’ claims, saying that there is no way earthquakes can be predicted.

John Bellini, a geophysicist at the US Geological Survey (USGS) has said: “We can’t predict or forecast earthquakes.

“Sometimes before a large earthquake you’ll have a foreshock or two, but we don’t know they’re foreshocks until the big one happens.”

The USGS completely denies that earthquakes can be forecasted, writing on its website: “Neither the USGS nor any other scientists have ever predicted a major earthquake.

“We do not know how, and we do not expect to know how any time in the foreseeable future.”
