'Dolphin skin' is taking impossibly fresh complexions to the next level…

Wet-look skin has summer written all over it. It’s that post-pool, sun-slicked, sea-spray speckle of dewiness that immediately serves up balmy summer vibes. Even if we have to settle for Costa del Bournemouth (oop, cancelled. Overcrowding), we can fake it with a little help from our makeup, and give our freshly glazed complexions a spin during socially distant picnics round our mates.

Highlighter has been through somewhat of a revival in recent years. There’s been a movement away from obvious glitter-encrusted cheekbones, to an all-over healthy wash of glow.

That’s where dolphin skin comes in. The trend invading Instagram is for amped up, slippery-looking skin that looks silky and luxe (rather than overly oily), and smooooooooth as a dolphin.

Coined by A-List celebrity makeup artist, Mary Phillips, who’s devoted clients include Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian, Hailey Bieber and Chrissy Tiegen, she recommends layering up on a series of glow-getters to maximise on sheen (you’re aiming for licked-by-a-seal levels of fresh).

“Use ICONIC London’s Prep-Set-Glow and Illuminator for a fresh, glowy look that won’t budge,” she says. Then, use the Sheer Blush to add a “sheer gloss of colour to the cheekbone, to add to the dewy wet glow.”

Seaside skin, straight from your sofa? We can live with that.
