Disney has cancelled the upcoming Descendants 3 premiere, following Cameron Boyce’s shock death.

The actor died on 6 July, aged 20, with a coroner’s report stating it was from ‘natural causes’.

And, following the news, the company has decided to call off the event and instead make a donation to The Thirst project – a charity that helps bring clean water to people around the world.

In a statement released to Variety, they confirmed: ‘We are proud to be part of Cameron Boyce’s legacy by showcasing his talents on screen but we are cancelling the red carpet premiere event for Descendants 3 scheduled for July 22 and instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed.

‘Thank you for understanding.’

They also revealed they want to ‘dedicate the telecast of Descendants 3 in his memory’.

Cameron died earlier this month, after suffering an epileptic seizure in his sleep.

‘It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,’ a spokesperson for the family told ABC news.

‘He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.

‘The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.

‘We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.’

Cameron’s family later described the ordeal as ‘heart-wrenching’ as they began making arrangements for his funeral.

‘We are still trying to navigate our way through this extremely heart-wrenching time, and continue to ask for privacy so that the family, and all who knew and loved him can grieve his loss and make arrangements for his funeral – which in and of itself, is agonising,’ they continued.

Tributes have poured in for the Disney favourite from fans and friends all over the world, with Adam Sandler, Dove Cameron and Michelle Obama among those honouring Cameron’s memory.

Dad Victor also shared the last photo he took of his son, while sister Maya revealed she was with him just hours before his death.
