‘Disappointed’ Spice Girls fans ‘demanding refunds’ after MORE sound issues at Cardiff reunion gig

Spice Girls fans were left “disappointed” by “awful” sound quality at the group’s reunion show in Cardiff, with some calling for refunds.

Geri Horner (nee Halliwell), Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm performed at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium last night, after opening their tour in Dublin’s Croke Park on Friday.

Following complaints over sound issues at the Dublin gig, Welsh fans claimed that they struggled to hear the band’s hits – despite experiencing few problems during support act Jess Glynne’s set.

“Jess Glynne was crystal clear but the Spice Girls were shocking,” one punter wrote on Twitter. “Couldn’t hear any vocals when they were singing or when they were speaking. Everything was just muffled and echoing. So disappointed that we left early.”

“Okay so @spicegirls was so much fun however the sound was atrocious and you could not hear what they actually said!” another wrote. “So disappointing when you pay soo much for a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

“@spicegirls not much better in Cardiff… The sound was awful again… What a way to spend money! #refundplease” another wrote.

“The @spicegirls show in @principalitysta could’ve been amazing but unfortunately sound quality from our seat was really poor… couldn’t hear what they were saying or hear their vocals! Surely this is a basic requirement of a concert @TicketmasterUK ?????” another disgruntled audience member said.

Others defended the group, claiming they had experienced no problems at the show.

“There’s no sound issues [sic],” one supporter wrote on Twitter. “It’s a massive stadium with 80,000 people crammed in it, singing and shouting. Not sure what people expect really. The show was amazing.”

Standard Online has contacted representatives for the band for further comment.

Brown addressed sound problems at the band’s Dublin show in an Instagram Story shared over the weekend, promising fans: “We will see you in Cardiff and hopefully the vocals and the sound will be much, much better.”

The band’s tour is set to continue with dates in Cardiff, Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Bristol before culminating in three nights at London’s Wembley Stadium next month.
