With just days to go before the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child, everyone around the country has been speculating on the royal baby‘s chosen name.
While the couple are keeping the baby’s gender a surprise, we can’t deny we’re intrigued to know whether the royal couple will stick to tradition with their baby name, or opt for something a little more contemporary (fingers crossed!)
We might be a little closer to narrowing our odds in the office sweepstake though, thanks to a glitch on the royal family’s website that may have already revealed the front-running names.
Sharp-eyed users have pointed that if you attempt to access the pages www.royal.uk/prince-arthur, www.royal.uk/prince-james and www.royal.uk/prince-alexander, the site returns back to the homepage.
However, when visitors try to access pages for other potential names rumoured for the new baby, the website says “Page not found”.
This means that the names that bounce back to the main homepage could already be in use by the royal family – the only reason we’re not seeing them yet is because they aren’t yet “live.” Interesting…
If we’re being analytical about it, this is the biggest clue we’ve had yet that the baby is a) a boy and b) will also be given a fairly traditional royal name.
In a fairly rare move for the palace, a spokesperson denied that the URL outcomes are baby-related, explaining that the website glitch is simply the result of “user experience.”
“A large number of search term redirects were set up some time ago on royal.uk,” a spokesperson told Yahoo UK. “This was in order to improve user experience. For guidance you will note that other names preceded by ‘prince’ or ‘princess’ produce the same result.”
As we all wait on tenterhooks for further news, you’ll find us over on Instagram hitting refresh on the couple’s official account. Any day now…
