Dermot O’Leary forced to end debate over Meghan Markle comments ‘Move on!’

Dermot O’Leary, 47, and Alison Hammond, 46, are currently standing in as the hosts on This Morning. However, the pair found themselves having to step in when a debate got quite heated on the show earlier today.

During today’s episode of This Morning, Julia Hartley-Brewer and Nicola Thorp got into a heated debate over Meghan Markle.

The pair were discussing the recently released images from the Royal Family after Prince Philip’s death.

This included one which featured his great-grandchildren before Archie was born.

Julia claimed how she was sure Meghan would find something to be “offended” by in the picture.

She said: “I wonder if Meghan [Markle] has managed to take offence to this photograph because it doesn’t include her son.”

Nicola then clapped back telling her: “Julia you can’t say that, you can’t say something like that I’m sorry”.

“Well you can but you can’t say something like that and not expect me to pick you up on it.

“To suggest that Meghan would think that something was racist because of something that didn’t even exist at the time, you yourself are kind of pushing this agenda and I’m tired of it.”

“So now we can get the gloves off.”

The heated discussion is not the only time the Royal Family has been the subject of conversation on the show this week.

This also comes after Alison stepped in to defend Prince Harry over his tribute to his grandfather.

The Duke of Sussex had written: “He was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ’til the end.”

Speaking about criticism in response to this, she said he was going to “criticised” whatever he did.

She said: “I feel like whatever Harry says now, he is going to be criticised, and I think it’s so unfair.

“Leave him alone, he’s just lost his grandad, leave him alone.”

Alison and Dermot are presenting the show in the place of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Phillip and Holly are on the second week of their usual Easter break from the show.

This Morning airs daily from 10am on ITV.
