Deepika Padukone: xXx star's AVENGERS plans revealed – Could she be a new superhero?

Deepika Padukone has reportedly been longing for a part in a superhero movie along the lines of the Avengers franchise. According to reports, not only is the xXx Return of Xander Cage actress a huge fan of the Avengers movies, but she also wants to make a film in the same vein but featuring desi superheroes for an Indian audience.

Mid Day reported there is even a script and a potential release time for the rumoured project.

“Deepika has been keen on playing a superwoman for a long time,” a source told the publication.

“Discussions on the superhero franchise are at a nascent stage. She is in talks with producers, directors and actors to take it further,” they added.

According to the report, the script might see the light of day as early as next year.

Padukone is reportedly not satisfied with making one superhero movie for local audiences either, but also has her eye on looping in some existing Indian characters.

She is said to be looking into bringing Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish franchise into the mix, as well as Tiger Schroff’s A Flying Jatt.

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Padukone asking for comment.

Padukone famously starred in action blockbuster xXx Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel back in 2017.

When it comes to which two other actresses would make up that mysterious “we”, she revealed she already had stars in mind.

“I always though that Katrina [Kaif] is really good in action because her work in Tiger Zinda Hai is something that she was really, really good at.

“I am sure Deepika will equally be excellent. So, I think Deepika and Katrina would be my choices to do action films,” she added.

While the various action ideas are nothing but rumours at the moment, her next movie, Chhapaak, is just around the corner.

The film sees her playing Malti, an acid attack survivor, in a story based on the life of Laxmi Agarwal, who was attacked in 2005 at the age of 15.

Chhapaak is directed by Meghan Gulzar and is due for release on January 10, 2020.

According to Times, fans are set to get a trailer for the upcoming movie any time now.
