David Beckham: ‘Don’t want to let daddy down’ Victoria Beckham reveals ‘upset’ son’s worry

Victoria Beckham has spoken candidly about her famous brood with husband David Beckham, who she wed back in 1999. The fashion designer detailed what Brooklyn Beckham, 20, Romeo Beckham, 16, Cruz Beckham, 14, and seven-year-old Harper were all interested in, saying how her three boys all used to have contracts with Arsenal. However, the 44-year-old said they now no longer want to follow in the ex-Manchester United player’s footsteps. Her second eldest got “really upset” about saying he didn’t want to be a footballer as he “didn’t want to let daddy down”.

Speaking out in an interview with the Financial Times, Victoria said “dyslexia doesn’t run in our family, it gallops”.

The singer is a “self-diagnosed dyslexic” herself and stated that both she and David “work really hard”.

While Brooklyn wants to be a photographer, Romeo wants to be a professional tennis player and Cruz a performer, she confirmed.

Victoria described their only daughter as “a real little tomboy” before revealing how her boys turned their back on football.

She told the publication: “They were going to be footballers so they were signed at a very young age. And they were all really good.

“Brooklyn was the first to say that he didn’t want to play any more. And then Romeo decided he didn’t want to do it either.”

She continued: “I remember Romeo sitting in the bath getting really upset, saying ‘I don’t want to let daddy down’.

“So I told him daddy just wants you to be happy. And now he’s playing tennis. Every day.”

Meanwhile, Victoria’s strong work ethic saw her take less than a week off after Harper’s birth in 2011.

She added: “Let me tell you. I was still in hospital. I couldn’t feel my legs because of the bl**dy epidural, and I’m being asked to approve lookbook images.

“So, I didn’t have a lot of time off. But it’s hard when you have your own business.”

It come just days after Victoria and David were pictured at the 2019 Portrait Gala at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

The pair held hands as they arrived at the star-studded party in coordinated monochrome looks.

Wearing her tresses up, the star wowed in a dramatic white top, with billowing, dramatic sleeves.

She injected some colour into her ensemble with a pair of bright pink stilettos and her make-up was finished with smoky eyes.

David cut a dapper figure in a classic tuxedo as they joined the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, Kate Moss and Liam Payne inside.
