Daniel James names the fastest players at Man Utd including fringe star

Daniel James has named Man Utd fringe star Diogo Dalot as one of the quickest players at the club.

Welsh winger James impressed United scouts with his own blistering pace to earn a move from Swansea last summer.

He completed a £15million switch to Old Trafford and was joined by Aaron Wan-Bissaka soon after; but the former Crystal Palace defender doesn’t rank in the top three United speedsters.

Instead James makes the podium himself, along with Marcus Rashford, though he admitted he had not gone toe-to-toe to race either of his teammates.

Asked who the quickest trio of Red Devils were, James told the Metro : “It would be me, Diogo [Dalot] and Marcus [Rashford],” James said. “I’ve not seen him at full sprint, we’d have a good race I think.

“Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] is very quick, I don’t think people realise how quick he is but [Diogo] is rapid. I don’t think you’ve probably seen it as much.”

Wales boss Ryan Giggs previously hailed James as the quickest player he’d ever seen, but he is currently behind Rashford in the running.

Rashford has been sidelined with injury since January, though had already clocked up the quickest sprint in a United shirt this season.

The England international got up to over 22mph in two separate fixtures earlier in the campaign, narrowly ahead of James, who had consistently hit more than 21mph.

United shared stats released by Opta back in November detailing the time difference in sprints between the pair, but James was not convinced.

“Not sure about this,” he wrote on Twitter, tagging Rashford in his response.

Rashford replied: “Stats don’t lie.”

Dalot has had less opportunity to go through the gears, having only made 10 appearances for United this season.

There was some consolation for Wan-Bissaka though, as James named him as one of the two toughest opponents he’s come up against.

“For me it’s obviously got to be Aaron,” James said on a Combat Corona Twitch FIFA competition. “I don’t think we’ve seen many players get past him.”

He also picked out Chelsea’s Reece James as one of his hardest battles.
