Dan Walker: BBC Breakfast star reveals TOUCHING activity he enjoyed with his children

Although most of the public returned to work on Tuesday, the BBC Breakfast host appeared to take an extra day off following the Bank Holiday weekend. Following a quick round of golf in the morning, Dan took his kids to a cycle track in Derbyshire for the day. In what is an incredibly picturesque setting, the BBC presenter took his kids to the Monsal Trail in the country on Tuesday.

Such was the obvious beauty of the setting, Dan’s posts got hundreds of likes on Twitter, while on Instagram a video of the family cycling got over 2,000 likes.

The Monsal Trail is a well-used cycling route in the Peak District and was formally a section of the Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midlands Junction Railway to link Manchester to London.

Away from his day trip with his kids, Dan has recently been engaging in a Twitter spat.

On Monday, the BBC man replied to a tweet from Leeds United football club.

Derby County lost in the Championship Playoff Final on Monday and following their loss, Leeds poked fun at the Midlands club.

Following that tweet, Dan replied with a vomit emoji.

After Dan’s tweet, a Leeds fan quickly responded: “I think the ‘banter’ should be left to the fans, but you’ve made yourself look very biased by only calling out one team.”

Dan replied with a fairly balanced response saying that Leeds’ original tweet was a “little below the belt”.

The BBC man added: “That’s why I put that emoji rather than say ‘what a disgrace’ – which it isn’t.”

In response to Dan, the Leeds fan explained in depth why he believes that his club is unfairly treated by those in the media.

The fan added: “See how it looks from a Leeds fans point of view.

“Lampard snubbing Bielsa at full-time, several classless Tweets from Derby’s official Twitter account and every Derby player posting ‘I spy’ posts.

“Nobody bats an eyelid.

“Leeds respond, you, Clem, J Oatley and several hacks suddenly respond.”

After some final remarks, Dan concluded by saying that he would like to see “Leeds back in the Premier League”.

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
