When seven-year-old Leo started asking his dad for his own version of the house in Disney Pixar’s Up, he got to work.

It took Scott Fincher, 57, from Canberra, Australia, 15 months and cost around $10,000 (£5,000) but he finally finished his amazing playhouse for Leo and his sister Taiya, three to enjoy.

Leo had watched the movie Up lots of times and fell in love with the colourful house, which is lifted into the sky with hundreds of balloons to go on an adventure.

Although Scott’s version sits firmly on the ground, it does feature everything from the same colours to the white picket fence around the garden.

It consultant Scott started the project in late 2019 but managed to do the bulk of the work during lockdown.

He picked up all the materials and did the work himself, creating a playhouse which weighs around three tonnes.

Although Scott told Femail that he isn’t sure how much he spent exactly, he thinks it’s around the $10k mark, with $1,500 going on the roofing and $2,000 worth of structural pine.

He added insulation inside so they can enjoy it in all weather and even included WiFi.

When pictures of the completed project were posted on Facebook, Scott was labelled ‘dad of the year’ for all his hard work.

But for him, the main thing is that the kids enjoy using it.

He said: ‘Leo loves it, as does his younger sister Taiya, who is three.

‘We’ve already had a couple of sleepovers upstairs in the cubby and they love snuggling there to watch a movie.’
