Curtis Pritchard's mum bursts into tears as she reveals what she really thinks of Maura

Love Island fans were stunned recently when Curtis Pritchard dumped Amy Hart after the couple appeared to be the real deal, with the split leading to her emotional exit from the series.

On Thursday, Curtis’ mum Debi was left in tears as she opened up about the situation on TV for the first time, alongside his father Adrian and brother AJ.

The trio defended Curtis, while confessing his way of letting Amy down was “brutal” because he is so honest.

As the interview began, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield aired the clip that saw Amy let Curtis go, as well as reveal her plans to leave the villa.

As the camera panned back to the studio, Phillip gave Debi a tissue as she was seen bursting into tears.

She confessed: “So emotional [I’ve seen it] so many times, but to see Curtis’ pain and not even realise the pain Amy was going through and Amy’s parents, its’ just like so traumatic. My heart is going like this.”

On their split, Debi defended her boy saying: “I think initially Curtis and Amy… it was real, every second of those four weeks was so real and the bubble was there and Amy’s friendship grew.

“Then the bubble burst because of Casa Amor, Curtis was out of the bubble and maybe stopped to think, ‘Maybe Amy’s relationship is growing at a faster rate than mine’ and he questioned it.”

AJ confessed that while his brother was honest, sometimes he could be too honest with him feeling his sibling could have handled dumping Amy a little better.

Both Debi and AJ also gave their opinions on Maura Higgins, amid Curtis potentially striking up a romance with her in the wake of Amy’s departure.

AJ said: “She’s definitely going for it, he doesn’t really have a choice at the moment. I think she’s great for him and that smile we all love of Curtis’ came back last night.”

His mum agreed: “Well I think Maura created a bit of a persona about herself but we got to see a little bit of the real Maura, when she got very very nervous around Curtis to which Molly-Mae picked up on.

“She said she completely reacts differently with Curtis so I think she has a big bubbly personality with a nice bit in the middle.”

This Morning airs weekdays and Sundays at 10:30am on ITV.
