Cruden selected to build 77 affordable homes in £12 million project

Social landlord Thenue Housing has appointed Cruden Building to carry out a multi-million pound project of 77 homes in Glasgow’s east end.

The £12.7 million contract will bring affordable houses and flats to Abercromby Street, in the Calton area, with work expected to start on site next month and due to complete in 2021. It will comprise modern and energy efficient houses and flats.

Allan Callaghan, managing director for Cruden Building, said: “Over the past decade, we have completed several award-winning developments for Thenue Housing and we are delighted to continue our strong working relationship as we begin work on this exciting new development. Together with making a positive impact to the lives of Thenue’s tenants, we will support the residents of Calton and the surrounding communities by providing a range of community benefits including valuable jobs and training opportunities.”

Thenue Housing chief executive Charles Turner said: “This is yet another example of us delivering on our promise to create much-needed new homes for the communities we serve. We look forward to working with Cruden Building as we have done before on delivering affordable housing together with a range of community benefits. Together, we will make a real difference to people’s lives.”
