If you don’t yet have a subscription to the excellent horror streaming service Shudder, then you probably have not had a chance to see Creepshow, the original anthology series based on the classic 1982 movie written by Stephen King and the late George A. Romero.
Well, while we nevertheless strongly recommend that you check out Shudder if you’re a horror fan, you’re still in luck if you don’t: the entire first season of Creepshow will run on basic cable’s AMC network (which owns Shudder) next month. The show will premiere on Monday, May 4 and will air two episodes back to back, starting at 9:00 p.m. ET.
Now, the first season is comprised of just six episodes, but each episode contains two standalone tales of terror for a total of one dozen haunting stories, many of them written and/or directed by some of the genre’s more notable names.
The series is executive produced by showrunner Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead), who directed two of the stories himself (including the series kick-off, “Gray Matter,” based on a classic Stephen King yarn). Other luminaries involved in the writing or directing include Josh Malerman (Bird Box), Joe Hill (NOS4A2), David J. Schow (The Crow), Dave Bruckner (The Ritual), Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead) and many others.
