Coutinho sets deadline for decision over new club amid Premier League interest

Philippe Coutinho will reportedly make a decision on his future after Bayern Munich’s participation in the Champions League is over, with the tournament to be held between August 7-23.

The Brazilian attacking midfielder has spent the season on loan at the German giants from Barcelona, and the deal has been extended so he can take part in the conclusion of their European campaign.

Bayern are already 3-0 up on aggregate in their last-16 tie against Chelsea, with the second leg set to take place on August 8, and they will face Coutinho’s parent club Barcelona in the quarter-finals if the Catalan side overcome Napoli.

Philippe Coutinho’s future is still uncertain

The former Liverpool man has been a huge disappointment in Spain since he joined Barca in an £105m move in 2018, and the club are said to be desperate to get the player off their books in the summer.

But according to Mundo Deportivo Coutinho is currently full focused on Bayern, and will only consider his options once their Champions League campaign comes to an end.

He has been linked with the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal in recent months, but according to his former teammate Jose Enrique he should return to Liverpool.

“We need a playmaker, a number 10, who is going to be better than Coutinho for us?” Enrique told Stadium Astro.

“He knows the club, he knows the city, he’s going to perform straight away because he’s been a Premier League player.

“The only problem is wages-wise, I believe he’s very, very high wages-wise in Barcelona, so I’m not sure if he will go to Liverpool obviously losing money.

“The problem with Barcelona, they try to play him on the left side all the time, in Neymar’s position and he’s not this type of player, he needs to play in the middle.”
