Moving into a new house, there are always little things left behind by previous owners.
But one couple were shocked to find a huge Monopoly board painted on the floor when they ripped up their carpet.
Their son-in-law shared a snap of the board on Reddit and explained: ‘While tearing up their carpet, my in-laws found a giant monopoly board.’
It includes all the properties from the original US version and even community chest, chance and a jail squares.
Others on Reddit said that it’s something they’d seen before and these giant games were once bang on trend.
One said: ‘It was a style for playrooms back in the day.’
‘Showed this to my wife, and she reminded me that there’s a whole neighbourhood near us, built in the mid-50s, that has game boards painted or tiled onto their basement floors.
‘Seems to have been a selling point or something,’ another wrote.
‘I’ll never forget always wanting one of these when I was younger,’ someone else said.
Another person posted a link to a Reddit thread from seven years ago, where someone else found a similar board on their floor after ripping up the carpets.
When asked about their plans for the board, the original poster said he was trying to get his in-laws to just embrace it and make a focal point out of it.
He commented: ‘Trying to convince them to cover it in epoxy and do the rest of the flooring around it how they originally wanted.’
