COSTA Coffee loyalty card holders can earn DOUBLE the points this weekend when they buy anything in stores – including on its Christmas menu.

Members of the Costa Coffee Club usually earn five points for every £1 they spend.

One point is then worth 1p to spend in store.

But this weekend only, you’ll earn ten points for every £1 spent.

The promotion is valid on any food or drink purchased in store, including items from Costa’s new Christmas menu.

So say you buy the coffee chain’s festive Irish Velvet Hot Chocolate for £3.35, you’ll earn 30 points worth 30p instead of 15 points worth 15p.

The offer includes mobile orders made via the Costa Coffee app, and points will automatically be added to your account as normal within 48 hours.

Unfortunately, Express self-service machines are excluded, as are Costa’s Proud to Serve business outlets.

Use its store locator tool to find your nearest.

The only catch is Costa’s terms and conditions say the offer is available to “selected” loyalty card holders only – we’ve asked for clarification on this and we’ll update the story as soon as we get a response.

If you’re planning to buy something in store, it may be worth checking about the points before you go ahead with the purchase.

Hotukdeals users first spotted the offer, saying they were emailed about the deal.

One person commented: “Very excited for this. Love Costa!!”

Another added: “Always love getting my Santa points. Makes you think how much do you actually spend on coffee – what has my life come to, so sad haha”.

Earlier this year, the coffee chain gave out free hot drinks via its self-service touch-screen “Express” machines.

But the freebie caused chaos when customers moaned the machines kept breaking down.

Costa’s Christmas 2019 menu includes a new Irish Coffee flavoured range and a Terry’s chocolate orange muffin
