Coronavirus: The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers washes his hands while singing ‘Mr Brightside’

The Killers have posted a video demonstrating how to properly wash your hands amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The short clip, posted to the band’s Twitter feed, sees frontman Brandon Flowers sing a truncated a cappella version of their hit song “Mr Brightside”.

Just before making the tweet, the band reacted to a fake viral video that purports to show a quarantined Italian neighbourhood singing the song in the streets.

“This isn’t real”, they confirmed. “But this is”, they wrote, next to the video of Flowers washing his hands.

He’s not the first singer to promote coronavirus prevention techniques through his music.

Last week, Gloria Gaynor recorded a special 20-second-long version of her disco hit “I Will Survive” to encourage handwashing.

The Killers have recently released a new single, entitled, appropriately, “Caution”, ahead of a forthcoming album.

Other music giants have been doing their part to help ameliorate the coronavirus outbreak, with Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift instructing their fans to self-isolate.
