CORONATION Street’s Kate weeps over her wedding ring after Rana’s sudden death in a heartbreaking first look at the soap’s special hour-long episode on Sunday.
The ITV soap will not air tonight, much to fans’ dismay, but they will get a 60 minute edition over the weekend.
And if the preview is anything to go by, it will be 60 minutes sorrow as the Weatherfield residents continue to struggle to come to terms with Rana’s death on Wednesday.
The nurse died in fiancee Kate Connor’s arms after getting caught up in the Underworld factory roof collapse.
Kate – played by Faye Brookes – can be seen sitting in the back room of the Rovers Return, staring at her wedding ring, tears streaming down her face.
The two women had managed to tell each other their wedding vows before Rana died, and Kate clearly can’t believe the love of her life has gone.
Meanwhile Gary Windass – a suspect in the roof collapse – can be seen staring at the floral tributes with girlfriend Sarah Platt beside him.
Another pair still reeling from the horrific accident is Underworld boss Carla Connor – Kate’s half-sister – and Peter Barlow.
Peter returned after hearing about the accident and found Carla distraught in the cafe.
In the preview, the pair are seen cuddled up on a sofa, with Peter dosing while Carla is wide awake with what looks like the weight of the world on her shoulders.
The clip then cuts to Rana’s heartbroken brother Imran, who aimlessly wanders around his kitchen with a tear stained face.
After putting something in the bin, he pulls out a small bouquet of flowers and an invite to the wedding that never happened.
Over at the hospital, Tim Metcalfe arrives to see wife Sally, who fell through the roof when it first collapsed and was whisked away by an ambulance unconscious.
