Coronation Street icon Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) has been noticeably missing from the cobbles in recent months.
After finding out that her sons David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) had swindled her mother Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholson) out of £80,0000, she decided to up sticks and leave Weatherfield.
Viewers soon found that Gail had headed off to Thailand to escape her family drama.
The Platt matriarch is set to return to Coronation Street in upcoming scenes and is horrified to find out what’s been going on with her family in her absence

Executive Producer Iain MacLeod told Metro.co.uk: “She’s still the Gail that we recognise but she’s a little more grounded and more mother earth.
“She’s still the Gail we know and love but there might be a few more harem pants in her wardrobe and a few more coiffure choices.”
While fans will get to see a different side to Gail as she arrives back in Weatherfield, it turns out the Corrie icon could have potentially returned with a new man.
When asked if Gail had engaged in a holiday romance with anyone, boss Iain added: “No, but there was originally a story on the table where she did but we moved away from that in the end.
“It felt like we don’t want Gail to get together with another serial killer and if we were going to do it we’d want to do it on-screen rather than off-screen.”

Upon her arrival, Gail’s horrified to find pal Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) at war with granddaughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon)
The emotional youngster launches herself at her gran, clearly upset.
A tearful Bethany tells her about kissing Daniel (Robert Mallard), while Sinead (Kate McGlynn) is on her deathbed across the road.
Gail takes Bethany back to No8 and assures her that yoga is the way forward and that she needs to find herself again.

Gail will also learn that her son David is the main suspect after rapist Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) is stabbed in prison.
To add to the drama, Callum Logan’s mum, Marion, wants custody of grandsons Max and Harry.
She may have been stress-free in Thailand, but we’re sure that the upcoming drama will bring Gail back to earth with a bang.
