CMS appoints intellectual property disputes lawyer



Law firm CMS has appointed intellectual property specialist Neeraj Thomas as a consultant in the firm’s technology and media practice in Glasgow.

He joins in the role of what Americans call ‘of counsel’ from Burness Paull where he was a senior associate.

Thomas is an experienced IP lawyers specialising in contentious issues and has extensive experience in disputes concerning patents, trademarks, software, design rights, copyright and confidential information.

 

The firm said he has particular expertise advising clients in the sports sector having acted for many of the prominent sports bodies in Scotland on issues including the drafting and implementation of a new disciplinary regime.

CMS Glasgow technology and media partner Carina Healy, said: “We are delighted to welcome Neeraj to the firm.

“Neeraj has an outstanding reputation in the contentious IP space, and significant experience acting on disciplinary matters for clients across the sports sector.

“His expert knowledge and strong track record will be of real benefit to the team as we look to further develop and grow our offering across Scotland.”

 

His appointment is the latest in a string of recent strategic hires for CMS in Scotland.

Last month saw the arrival of energy and renewables partner Chris McGarvey, who joined the firm’s Glasgow office from Pinsent Masons, while corporate partner Laura McIntosh joined the CMS Edinburgh office in March after 12 years at Dickson Minto.
