The shelves in our oven can turn from gleaming to grimy in no time has food spillages and heat take their toll.
Baked on stains means no amount of elbow grease can restore them to their former glory and even soaking them overnight can leave behind a lot of unwanted residue.
Thankfully, a mum who shares her genius cleaning tips with almost 30,000 followers on Instagram has shared her method to get them sparkling again in no time.
Abi’s Cleaning Space created an Instagram story to show off the simple technique, using a household product you probably already have in your cupboards.
She revealed that all you need to do is fill a sink or bath with hot water, before adding the crucial ingredient of fabric softener and leaving it to soak.

Once it’s had time to work its magic, remove the shelves and the dirt should wipe away with no stress.
Abi posted a photo of her oven racks in the bath so she could give them all the treatment in one go, writing: “Soaking oven racks in hot water and fabric softener in the bath to release all the grime stuck to the racks.”
She also included pictures, showing the silver trays caked in the black marks we all recognise from our own oven, before the incredible transformation leaving them looking like new.
Once you’ve got the oven racks in shape, another handy tip can also give new life to your baking trays – and it only costs 2p.
Sharing the results on Facebook, Louise Wright wrote: “Don’t bin baking trays.
“I spend a fortune on baking trays because I buy the cheaper range and they don’t last long being marked by tough cooking stains. But I tried the 2p trick going about and it worked.
“Rub the baking tray with the 2p and then wash as you would with daily dishes.
“It works, takes away the burnt marks left from baking/cooking. No more binning and replacing.”
