Christmas is only a month away, and many of us have started decorating our houses with all things festive in preparation for the special day.

And while it’s traditional to hang a wreath on your front door, one TikTok account dedicated to Christmas has shared an alternative decoration idea that could save you time – as it only takes a few minutes to put up.

Instead of buying a wreath, TikTok users @bestofchristmass revealed you can wrap red ribbon around your door to create a stunning display that mimics the look of a neatly wrapped present.

The video shows a man threading red fabric around the top and bottom of his front door to create a big red stripe down the centre before he repeats the process across the width of the door.

He then places a piece of checked fabric down the length of the door on top of the plain red ribbon.

And as a finishing touch, he places a gold bow with a piece of decorative holly in the middle of the design.

The video has over 3.6 million views, and people can’t get enough of the simple yet effective decoration hack.

One person wrote: “I do this on my door every Christmas and on the inside, I pin all our Christmas cards to the ribbon.”

While another commented: “This makes me so happy!”

And a third said: “I love it, I’m doing this to all my inside doors.”

Others weren’t convinced by the decoration though, as they were concerned the fabric would rip after a while or would stop the door from closing properly.

Someone said: “But won’t the door opening and closing tear the ribbon?”

As someone else added: “This looks great but how do you shut your door?”

And another asked: “Does the bottom rip, due to opening and closing the door? Looks so pretty though.”
