Christian Pulisic broke Tammy Abraham Chelsea record with hat-trick against Burnley

Christian Pulisic has broken Tammy Abraham’s record to become Chelsea’s youngest ever hat-trick hero.

Abraham became the youngest Chelsea player to score a hat-trick just last month, when he put three past Wolves in the Blues’ 5-2 win.

The talented forward was 21 years and 347 days old at the time of his record.

But Pulisic has smashed that record after netting three times in the win over Burnley.

He was just 21 years and 38 days old on a memorable day for the American.

It was Pulisic’s first start for Chelsea in the league since August after struggling to break into Frank Lampard’s first XI.

A number of promising cameo appearances off the bench had Chelsea fans clamouring to see him given more minutes.

And he duly delivered in perfect fashion at Turf Moor.

The former Borussia Dortmund star capitalised on two defensive errors in the first half, neatly putting away both efforts to give his side a 2-0 lead.

His third arrived just 10 minutes after the break after getting his head on the end of a cross from Willian, with the Brazilian then adding a fourth for Chelsea soon after.

There were some concerns on the Chelsea bench late on though as Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil scored twice in quick succession before added time with the momentum suddenly shining in favour of Burnley.

However, Chelsea held on to clinch all three points to record their seventh consecutive win in all competitions.

Speaking after the game, Lampard explained why he has held back in putting Pulisic in the starting line-up.

“He had a week’s break this summer,” the Chelsea boss said.

“He arrived for a big price and wanted to come straight back in but at the same time why am I going to throw him in?

“So I have to do it in the right way and get the best out of him. I’m delighted for him.”
