Real Madrid have approached Chelsea about a summer deal for Eden Hazard, according to reports.
Confirmation of Zinedine Zidane’s return as Real coach sent shock waves through the football world and the club are already planning the Frenchman’s first big transfer.
Hazard wanted to join Real last summer, former team-mate Thibaut Courtois did make the switch, but was blocked by Chelsea who refused to let go of their star player.
The Telegraph claim Real made contact with Chelsea about Hazard shortly before they announced Zidane would be their new head coach on Monday.
Zidane signed a three-year deal with his former club and Hazard is expected to tell Chelsea to sanction the move.
Hazard is a huge admirer of Zidane as a coach and named the French legend as his idol growing up.
Real are thought to have approached Chelsea with a proposal with a view to a summer deal, despite the fact the Blues are facing a transfer ban.
The ban would block Hazard from joining Real as Chelsea would be unable to sign a replacement, however the club are hopeful the Court of Arbitration for Sport will overrule Fifa’s decision to snub a request to freeze the suspension during the appeal process.
Chelsea value Hazard at £100million and have offered the Belgian a huge deal worth upwards of £300,000 a week to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard’s deal expires next summer and the playmaker feels his time in London has reached it’s end.
Zidane is expected to oversee an overhaul of the Real squad this summer and has reportedly been handed a £300m transfer kitty.
