Frank Lampard wants Chelsea to sign Moussa Dembele ahead of Manchester United, according to reports.

The Chelsea boss was bitterly disappointed with his club’s transfer business in January, but the Blues are determined to back their manager in the summer.

Chelsea failed in a bid to sign Dembele from Lyon last month and were knocked back in approaches for Edinson Cavani and Dries Mertens.

The Mirror claim interest in RB Leipzig star in Timo Werner has cooled because of Lampard’s preference for Dembele and Liverpool’s interest in the striker.

Chelsea expect Liverpool to move for Werner and the 23-year-old has already admitted he wants to play in the Premier League.

The Blues will therefore focus their efforts on signing Dembele, who will be available for transfer in the summer.

Lyon turned down bids from Chelsea in January for Dembele, but reports claim the French side are prepared to cash in on the goalscorer this summer.

United are long-time admirers of Dembele and have tracked the Frenchman since his breakout years at Fulham.

Lampard regards Dembele as the better option in the long run for his youthful side and is attracted to his versatility.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to hand Lampard a £150m transfer kitty for the summer as the Blues manager targets a host of signings.

A new goalkeeper, striker, full-back and attacker are all on the agenda for Lampard as he aims to add experience to his young squad.
