Champions League draw: When is it? Who can Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona face in last 16?


The last group stage fixtures in the Champions League take place on Wednesday after Liverpool and Chelsea secured their progress. Jurgen Klopp’s side travelled to Red Bull Salzburg while Frank Lampard hosted Lille as they seeked qualification into the last 16.

The Champions League last 16 draw will take place at 11am on Monday, December 16 in Nyon, Switzerland.

The teams will be divided into two pots, one will consist of all of the group stage winners, the other all the runner-ups.

No side can face another team from the same country or a team that they were drawn alongside during the group stage.

And the seeded group winners will travel away to their opponents in the first leg of the match.

The first legs of the Champions League last 16 matches will take place on February 18, 19, 25 or 26.

March 10, 11, 17 or 18 March are the dates the second legs are scheduled by UEFA.

2 teams left to qualify on Wednesday

GROUP C:

Manchester City are through to the last 16 as group winners.

However, second place is still up for grabs.

Shakhtar Donetsk will progress if they beat Atalanta, or if they draw and Dinamo Zagreb fail to win.

Dinamo Zagreb will advance if they beat City and Shakhtar do not beat Atalanta.

Atalanta will progress if they beat Shakhtar and Dinamo fail to win against City.

GROUP D:

Juventus have qualified for the knockout phase as group winners.

Looking to join them are Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.

Atletico will seal the runners-up spot if they beat Lokomotiv Moscow, while Leverkusen will advance if they beat Juventus and the Spanish side fails to win.

GROUP E:

Liverpool won the group with a victory away at Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday night.

Napoli thrashed Genk at home to join them in the next round, with Salzburg having to settle for Europa League football beyond the New Year.

GROUP F:

Barcelona are through to the last 16 as group winners.

Borussia Dortmund finished second after beating Slavia Prague 2-1 as Inter Milan lost at home to Barca.

GROUP G:

RB Leipzig are through as group winners after a draw against Lyon..

The French side also qualified as Zenit St Petersburg were convincingly beat by Benfica 3-0.

GROUP H:

Valencia ended up topping the group against all odds as they beat Ajax in Amsterdam 1-.0

Chelsea progressed in second after thrashing Lille at Stamford Bridge with Tammy Abraham on target again.
