The Celebs Go Dating wrap party was cancelled as a mark of respect for Mike Thalassitis.
The reality star took his own life on 16 March, aged just 26.
Following Mike’s death, Celebs Go Dating – which he starred on in 2018 – paid tribute to the former footballer by dedicating an episode to him.
Now, Kerry Katona has revealed that producers cancelled the party for last week’s series finale out of respect.
Writing in her new! column, Kerry said: ‘The Celebs Go Dating wrap party was postponed last week in the wake of what happened.
‘Obviously Megan McKenna wouldn’t be there, and I know Sam Thompson’s devastated.
‘It just feels like the whole thing wouldn’t be appropriate right now.’
Mike’s ex-girlfriend Megan appeared on this series of Celebs Go Dating, with the former Ex On The Beach star saying she is ‘complete shock’.
She wrote on Instagram: ‘Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this. I can’t believe I’m even writing this post.
‘My thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family.’
Kerry continued: ‘I texted Megan to let her know I was thinking of her but I haven’t heard back yet. She’ll need time to grieve such a sad, unnecessary loss.’
Sam Thompson, who was also on the current series of Celebs Go Dating, had also shared his devastation at Mike’s passing.
He wrote on Instagram: ‘I met Mike on celebs go dating. I was told he was joining the show with me and my heart sank. I had heard all of the things said about this so called lothario. This cock sure arrogant guy, who was fresh out of love island and ready to steam roll this dating show that i was so terrified to join (sic).
‘I remember the first time i laid eyes upon him. i remember the words that came to my head…f*** me he’s a greek god. I had genuinely never seen a more perfect specimen of man. He looked like everything i WISHED i looked like Needless to say an already pretty insecure Sam retreated straight into his shell. That was it. Game over. This Alpha Male had come over, and knocked me for 6.’
The 26-year-old went on to say how Mike surprised him by striking up conversation and having a drink with him after not saying hello at the start.
‘I stood there rather ashamed at how badly i had just judged a book by its cover. Over the next few months, the shame only grew. This guy was one of the most polite gentlemen i had ever met.’
Kerry said in her column: ‘I only met Mike once but he was so lovely and his death is such a great shame.
‘We need to start really looking at why these young people are taking their own lives. Nothing is worth it – there is always, always a solution.’
This comes as Mike’s grieving family shut down a GoFundMe page raising money for his funeral, in order to stop fraudsters trying to access the funds.
