Casualty mocked after Strictly Come Dancing appears to force show rewrite

The hit BBC programme appears to have been forced to rewrite the script after one of its main stars jumped ship to Strictly Come Dancing.

Charles Venn, 45, took part in the dancing juggernaught last winter before being paired with professional dancer Karen Clifton.

Due to Charles needing time away from the Casualty set, show writers appear to have had to add in a twist for his character Jacob.

To explain his departure from the hospital, Jacob has been put on a secondment.

This is when a member of staff is temporarily transferred to another position in the company.

Taking to Twitter to joke about the switch-up, one viewer tweeted: “Jacob’s secondment aka Strictly,” followed by a laughing emoji.

Another added: “Jacob’s secondment… to Strictly.

Meanwhile, a third simply seemed baffled asking: “Where’s Jacob disappeared to?”

Charles managed to make it all the way to the quarter-final during the ever-popular BBC One series.

Surviving until December 2, Charle and Karen became the 10th couple to be eliminated.

Strictly 2018 was won by TV presenter Stacey Dooley and her dance partner Kevin Clifton.

The couple beat off competition from YouTube sensation Joe Sugg and Steps singer Faye Tozer to lift the coveted Glitterball trophy.
