Cardiff City defender Joe Bennett reveals gruesome eye injury after clashing with Junior Hoilett

Joe Bennett has posted an image revealed the huge swollen eye he suffered following an collision with his own teammate Junior Hoilett on Saturday.

The Cardiff City pair went for the same ball during the first half of their win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Physios from both clubs came on to the pitch during a lengthy stoppage, and while Hoilett was able to carry on, Bennett left the field on a stretcher.

Bennett put the photo online alongside the caption: “Junior Hoilett your head is made of concrete… all good though, no fracture. Great result from the boys.”

Hoilett had scored for Cardiff, as did Robert Glatzel, and although Tom Lees pulled one back for the Owls, they held on to win 2-1 and climb to 10th in the Championship.
