Chris Evans has described Avengers: Endgame as a ‘losing battle’ in the new We Lost featurette, and we were not emotionally prepared.
The teaser sees the cast, including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, reflecting on the tragic events of Infinity War and (far too calmly) teasing what’s to come.
‘Imagine if, for the first time, our heroes are lost,’ the Iron Man actor urged fans, with many pointing out that we don’t actually need to imagine, thanks Robert.
‘Thanos had his way and half of the population of the universe is gone,’ he pointed out.
‘Everyone’s doing their best to keep their head above water but it’s kind of a losing battle, we lost. And we’re not used to losing,’ explained Chris Evans.
‘Natasha is a little bit hardened from what she’s had to go through,’ Scarlett teased.
‘They’ve truly levelled us, not just literally, but morally and emotionally,’ the Captain America actor added. ‘It’s always easier to build people back up when they’ve been broken down.’
However, Chris may have just pointed towards a happy ending, referring to a ‘shred of hope’ in the final film.
We could not be more ready for that happy ending.
And Captain America appears to speak the truth, as the clip sees our faves being ‘broken down’, with some being turned into dust and others mourning the heroes ‘we lost’ before getting back into fighting mode.
Plus, of course Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson) makes her appearance, as Thor (Chris Hemsworth) sums up everyone’s feelings with his comment: ‘I like this one.’
Don’t we all.
The new featurette only appears to have made fans even less emotionally stable, although some pointed out that the teasers never refer to the heroes as ‘dead’, only as ‘lost’ or ‘turned to dust’.
Listen, we’re taking every last ray of hope we can get.
The clip comes just as the cast have been hyping up the release with new movie posters, starting the one month countdown.
Sharing a promotional picture of themselves, the stars all wrote: ‘1 Month. #AvengersEndgame.’
In the snaps, the team can be seen suited and booted as their superheros with the words ‘avenge the fallen’ running across their faces.
We’re not prepared in the slightest.
Avengers: Endgame will be released on 25 April.
