Can I travel to Jersey right now?


Jersey is a British Crown Dependency and is the largest of the Channel Islands. Known for its beautiful surroundings and warm weather, Jersey is a vacation hotspot. But due to the pandemic, there are currently some restrictions in place on travel to the region.

Can I travel to Jersey right now?

Over the May bank holiday weekend, more than 10,000 people travelled in and out of Jersey.

Under England’s travel guidelines, people do not need to take a COVID-19 test or quarantine on arrival in England if they are travelling within the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, (the Common Travel Area), and they have not been outside of the Common Travel Area in the previous 10 days.

People in England are currently permitted to travel to Jersey.

However, Jersey has introduced a number of restrictions on travel at the current time.

However, people arriving from red list areas will need to self-isolate until a negative test is reported from the day 10 test.

While most areas of England are on the green list, some areas considered high risk are on the red list.

People should make sure they are covered with medical travel insurance before visiting Jersey.

All visitors also need to complete a pre-departure registration form within 48 hours prior to their arrival in Jersey.

What are the rules for people vaccinated against COVID-19?

There are new rules now in place for people who are fully vaccinated travelling to Jersey from within the Common Travel Area (CTA).

The Jersey travel website explains: “The Covid-19 Status Certification scheme will start, allowing ‘Green Light’ status for visitors who have been fully vaccinated within the Common Travel Area (CTA) with a MHRA approved vaccine 2 weeks before travelling.

“This means they will require a day 0 test only and no isolation if coming from a Green or Amber area.

“Passengers with a Red travel history will be classified Red regardless of their vaccination status.”

Which other countries are on England’s travel green list?

According to the Government website, the following countries are currently included on the green list:

  • Australia
  • Brunei
  • Falkland Islands
  • Faroe Islands
  • Gibraltar
  • Iceland
  • Israel
  • New Zealand
  • Portugal
  • Singapore
  • South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands
  • St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha
