Campbell Dallas takes over 139-year-old accountancy firm

Scotland-wide accountancy firm Campbell Dallas has taken over 139-year-old company Williamson & Dunn.

The Aberdeen firm, founded in 1880, has five partners and 36 staff and a fee income of more than £3 million.

The enlarged business will trade as Campbell Dallas from the Williamson and Dunn’s West Craibstone Street offices and the existing Campbell Dallas office on Carden Place, with two partners and 10 staff, will continue to operate.

The deal is the latest in a series of expansion moves by Campbell Dallas which has 47 partners, nearly 550 staff and a fee income of circa £40 million. It has its head office in Renfrew and also has bases in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayr, Inverness, Kilmarnock, Perth and Stirling.

Williamson and Dunn provides accountancy, advisory, tax, audit, financial planning and compliance services to more than 1,000 owner managed businesses, entrepreneurs, and private individuals.  The firm is known for its expertise in the family business, farming, fishing, property, healthcare, construction, estates and charity sectors.

George Flett, senior partner of Williamson and Dunn said: “Joining Campbell Dallas will enable us to provide our clients with access to a full range of accountancy services and specialists across Scotland, the UK and internationally.

“We will also gain access to industry-leading financial technology that will allow us to provide outstanding customer service.  Our staff will also gain access to challenging and rewarding career opportunities at all levels across the wider group.  The accountancy market is changing rapidly, and we hope our clients will quickly see the benefits of the deal.”

Chris Horne, managing partner of Campbell Dallas said “The deal provides Campbell Dallas with further scale to expand our client base in Aberdeen and throughout the north-east and provides staff with the chance to develop their careers across a larger business. Working together, we will offer the best technology driven services to our clients.”

The deal is the latest acquisition by Campbell Dallas following a deal with Scott-Moncrieff in April this year, which added 16 partners and 220 staff. The deals follow on from Campbell Dallas joining Baldwins and the CogitalGroup in October 2017. Campbell Dallas is now one of the largest full-service accountancy firms in Scotland outside the Big Four.
