Business Fours ready to tee off with £10,000 charity donation up for grabs

Scotland’s national business golf tournament returns this spring with companies involved in qualifying events across the country.

The events series has a whopping £10,000 charity donation prize up for grabs for anyone who can hit a hole in one at the national final event in May, and £2,500 on offer for an ace at the qualifying events.

Run by Business Fives – the people behind the popular corporate football events – Business Fours tees off in Glasgow at the stunning Haggs Castle championship course on April 17.  It proceeds to the Burnside Course at Carnoustie before further golf days in Aberdeen at Murcar Links and in Edinburgh on Gullane 2.

Players can make new connections with teams having the choice of being split up for their round or playing together with existing business connections. Beyond the £10,000 prize on offer, there is a strong charity element to the tournament with 10% of all revenue going into a charity pot. The destination of this donation will be decided by the winning company at the national final will takes place at Glenbervie Championship Course on May 23.

Reigning champions Riddle & Coghill kitchens were able to make a donation of £2,604 for their chosen charity MND Scotland. The donation was presented to MND Scotland representative Morag McGown at their Edinburgh offices and Morag said: “The Business Fours golf tournament is a fantastic event and we’re delighted that the team at Riddle & Coghill won, raising an incredible total.

“This money will allow MND Scotland to continue supporting people affected by Motor Neurone Disease across Scotland, and fund vital research into a cure for this devastating illness.”

Riddle & Coghill director Gus Riddle said: “We’re thrilled to have won the Business Fours event and had a great two days across both events.

“To take home the donation for MND Scotland is something which means a lot to us having watched a close family member suffer the fate of motor neurone disease. We’d encourage any business thinking about getting involved to give it a try.”

Tournament founder John McClarey – who is also behind Business Fives – said he hoped to build on the success of last year’s tournament.

He said: “We are really looking forward to teeing off the new season of Business Fours and we’re hoping to replicate the energy and enthusiasm from last year’s events that created a real buzz in the room.

“The format was embraced by all the companies who took part and the feedback was really positive with most of last year’s participants already back involved, something which proves the formula works.”
