Budget 2020 UK LIVE – Rishi Sunak vows to do ‘whatever is needed’ to ensure NHS can combat coronavirus


THE Chancellor will today unveil the government’s spending plan, with an emphasis on funding to try to slow down the spread of coronavirus.

In his first budget, Rishi Sunak is also expected to outline extra spending to aid in the aftermath of flood damage.

It is thought the Chancellor will include changes to taxes and pensions, as well as increases on housing and social care in England.

    The Chancellor will today scrap the five per cent VAT rate on all sanitary products.

    Known as the “Tampon Tax”, it comes after decades of demands from campaigners.
