BRITS fork out an average £451 on 34 takeaways a year.
Researchers found adults typically spend between £10 and £15 per person on each meal.
The UK’s most popular takeaway is Chinese food with favourites like Kung Pao chicken and sweet and sour pork.
A new study by accountancy giants KPMG show Londoners are most crackers about eating in, spending an average of £709 a year.
Next on the takeaway list is Sheffield on £548. But gourmets in Southampton spend an average of between £35 and £40 in person.
Wales is at the other end of the table, ordering just 18 a year.
The most common way to order is on the phone, with just a third of people saying they turned to apps like Just Eat, Deliveroo or Uber Eats.
Will Hawkley, of KPMG, said: “People are just looking for more and more convenience. They’re busier, working harder.
“And two thirds of those we quizzed order as often, or more often, than they did a year ago.”
