Lewis Capaldi and Dave top this year’s list of nominees for the 2020 Brit Awards, as some of the biggest names in music battle it out for a gong.

They are each nominated for four awards, while Stormzy and Mabel are close behind with three nominations each. But they’re not the only ones, with big names Sam Smith, Charli XCX and Coldplay also in the running this year.

The annual ceremony, hosted by Jack Whitehall at London’s o2 arena, celebrates the best of British talent, as well as some of the biggest international stars who have topped the UK charts. It will be a big night for performances too, with Billie Eilish singing the theme song to the new Bond film – No Time To Die – for the first time. Stormzy, Lizzo, Capaldi, Harry Styles and Dave are also due to perform, while Sir Rod Stewart will close the show.

This year’s nominees list has caused a stir among some however, with criticism for its lack of diversity. Only four women have been nominated across the four categories that are not gender-specific. The nature of the categories has also been questioned, with calls for gendered categories to be dropped altogether to accomodate non-binary artists such as Sam Smith.

Whatever happens at tonight’s ceremony, we’ll keep the results list updated as each winner is announced.
