Britney Spears 'checks into mental health facility' amid father Jamie's serious illness

Britney Spears has checked herself into a mental health facility amid her father Jamie’s major health issues after posting a cryptic Instagram.

The 37-year-old singer has been distraught over the patriarch’s illness and checked herself in last week where she will live for 30 days according to sources for TMZ on Wednesday.

Insiders tell the publication that Jamie’s issues are serious and not improving.

TMZ claims that Jamie has had two surgeries to correct major issues regarding his intestines and colon.

He recently had the second procedure done but has still been suffering health complications.

Jamie has been dealing with health issues since late last year and suffered a ruptured colon leading Britney to cancel a series of shows in her Las Vegas residency. 

She said in a statement January 4: ‘I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me.’ 

This is not Britney’s first time in rehab as in February 2007, she stayed at a rehab in Antigua for less than one day after her infamous salon stop in Tarzana, California.

Spears had shaved her head with electric clippers at the salon before attacking paparazzi with an umbrella.

She went on to seek more treatment before being hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles due to being under the influence of an unidentified substance in January 2008. 

As a result, a judge ruled that her ex Kevin Federline have sole physical and legal custody of their two young sons Sean and Jayden.

Shortly thereafter, she was committed to the  psychiatric ward of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and put on 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold.

The court then placed her under temporary – and later permanent – conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet, giving them complete control over her assets before she was released five days later.

The agreement has come to light in recent weeks as it was reported that Britney cannot wed 25-year-old boyfriend Sam Asghari without her father’s approval.

‘Britney can’t get married unless Jamie approves it,’ a source told UsWeekly last month.

‘and Jamie is inclined not to, because it would only [create complicated] legal issues.’

Also, if she decides she wants another child, she will also have to get her dad’s blessing.
