BRITAIN’s Got Talent’s judges are left in tears tonight when they meet a hero police dog who was stabbed saving his handler’s life.
Simon Cowell tells copper Dave Wardell he wished he had a Golden Buzzer left to give the act, after hearing German Shepherd Finn was brutally attacked during an arrest.
A video featuring Finn’s story is shown tonight as the pair perform an incredible “mind -reading trick” and Simon, 59, is truly awestruck.
Finn was nearly killed in the line of duty and an emotional Simon tells Dave: “If I had a golden buzzer left I’d give it to you. When I hear about animal cruelty, especially dogs, it upsets me.
“A dog will literally give up its life for you. Finn’s beautiful, I love him.”
The 10-year-old was knifed with a 10in blade when he lept between PC Wardell and an attacker who used the weapon and caused horrific injuries.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Dave said: “Dogs like Finn are out there day and night doing incredible work.
“If I can tell Finn’s story, showcase service animals and talk about Finn’s law, I’ve already won.
“My day job is running through gardens at 3am chasing after car thieves, so you can imagine walking out in front of thousands of people in front of four of the most famous people in the land.
“It was surreal.”
Dave admitted he was starstruck meeting Simon, but Finn has always been a great ice breaker.
He added: “I got tongue-tied when I saw Simon Cowell but Finn didn’t.
“Like when we were on the streets, Finn pulled us through. It’s a different world, but we smashed it.”
Finn now lives with Dave and they have “an incredible bond” and Dave revealed police bosses backed his BGT audition.
